The Heart Behind It All

In 2017, I started on this journey to follow my passion.

I was a mom struggling with postpartum depression, searching for a productive outlet to try and heal.

That’s when Knot Forgotten was born.
Knot – representing the knots in wood.
Forgotten – because I was repurposing old furniture, giving it new life.

Together: Reimagining the old and making it new again… ensuring it’s Knot Forgotten.

Then came 03/04/21 — a day that forever changed my life and everything I thought I knew.

On this day, I gave birth to my son Elijah at 21 weeks.

As a mom of four, I had taken for granted how blessed I was. I carried Elijah through the first trimester, heard his heartbeat three separate times, and just assumed I’d be bringing him home.

But that wasn’t the case.

Since then, the simplest things carry deeper meaning.
One example: baby’s breath — a delicate flower often overlooked, used mostly as filler. But to me, it makes a bouquet whole.

And for me, baby’s breath has come to symbolize the one thing I couldn’t give Elijah: breath.

It’s the one thing I just assumed would be there.

During this season of life, Knot Forgotten took on a different meaning.

After walking through a storm I never imagined, I finally started giving myself permission to live again. I had to ask myself if Knot Forgotten was still “me.”

At that point, I had stepped back from furniture — trying to paint big pieces in my kitchen just wasn’t practical for my family anymore.

But during that reflection, I realized that Knot Forgotten held an even deeper connection to my story than I could’ve ever known. It’s more powerful and more relevant today than when I first created the name back in 2018.

I will continue bringing that same love and intention into everything I make and choose. I won’t take for granted the beauty and simplicity all around us.

When you visit Knot Forgotten, I want you to leave knowing that:

🖤 You matter

🖤 The people you love matter

🖤 And those we’ve loved and lost… are Knot Forgotten
