This position will involve handling phone calls from patients and hospital staff. The call is mostly phone-based, including calls from parents and hospital/ER inquiries. Unrestricted home call will be provided. The Pediatric Endocrinologist will need to come in for new diabetic consults. These typically require a 48-hour admission. The provider will need to meet the family and arrange follow-up appointments. Most patients will be managed by hospitalists, with phone support from the endocrinologist. Working hours are 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, with 24-hour call coverage from Monday through Sunday. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner Powerchart. Support staff will include one RN, one LPN, one MA, one referral coordinator/scheduler, and centralized registration.
